I just received a notification from CIBIL which mentions that ICICI Bank made a CIBIL enquiry.
This was not initiated by me, and I am not in India at the moment.
What can I do?

Likely not much. You can raise a dispute with CIBIL (you may have to login and generate a credit report, then quote the report number), and see where it goes. CIBIL usually says that it is the responsibility of banks for reporting correct data. Typically, Banks are expected to collect explicit consent before making a CIBIL hard pull (usually in writing, or via OTP). You can ask them to share proof of consent (which they likely won't have), hence ICICI may revert the enquiry. If you have had any loan/cc relationship (owner, or guarantor) with ICICI, they are allowed to soft pull your info periodically, but that shouldn't count as an enquiry. If the response is not satisfactory, you can escalate though grievance redressal mechanisms/ ombudsman. RBI is pretty strict regarding this stuff. Also, I believe, in some countries, you can freeze your credit info for a period of time, not sure if it can be done in India.
