We all know that maintaining a healthy credit utilisation ratio is important, hence most of us don’t spend above 30%, however it is also well known that this should reflect on the statement only, which means that we can use more than 30% but should make payments appropriately so that the statement during a billing period should only show a usage of about 30%.

This doesn’t seem to be the case with my IDFC first bank credit card. I recently checked my CIBIL report and was shocked to see that the balance reported is the same as my current balance, for which the statement hasn’t even been generated yet! Every time I checked my credit report, I would see that the balance reported would be the balance shown on the last statement, but this appears to be a weird case and would be counterproductive to maintaining a healthy credit utilisation ratio.
