Battery advice

If you are doing downtime then batteries do degrade if you don't use but this is the same with almost all battery technologies. What I'm interested to know is when Lithium Iron phosphate batteries come to mobiles but then again as somebody shared above, vendors and marketeers do all kinds of tricks to tell us one thing or the other which may not be true.

I know I am waiting for the lithium iron phosphate batteries, they have been charming the pants of everybody in the EV side of the business. Might be a good idea to have the same in consumer electronics too. But for next few years, it would be EV boom time.

I saw someone's electric scooter catching fire on reddit and he tried to save it by spraying water :/ ofc it exploded.

Batteries need to get a whole lot safer or people need to be trained on properly handling their EVs. You can't be reckless with any lithium based batteries.

Many electric 4 wheelers have radiators (just like in ICE vehicles) to cool the battery packs. My main fear is those multi storied bldgs which have car parks in the lower level of the bldg, which may soon have designated areas for EV's. God help if an EV catches fire. As most bldgs don't bother to maintain their fire fighting systems. Any structural damage will have horrendous consequences.

I think that might be Ola scooter or something. There is a huge difference in lot of ways between Lithium-ion and lithium iron phosphate batteries. See for yourself -

Not just ear, even pacemakers have lithium-ion batteries so yeah, it can all go wrong. That is the reason why companies are pouring trillions of dollars into finding chemistries so it's safer and more energy-dense than what we have now and more charging cycles. And while there are lots of breakthroughs in the lab, putting them into production is and can be a pain. A lot of people for e.g. are looking forward to solid-state batteries, now whether that's a pipe-dream or something real we will know only in a few years. Toyota, Quantumscape, and others have been doing a lot in that space.

You need to see this, but I do agree that people should be aware of building codes and whatnot and make sure that firefighting systems are well-maintained.

The Upahaar cinema tragedy is a classic example of businesses that don't care about building codes and fire escape systems and whatnot. I have even seen in hospitals where fire escapes routes have been commercialized and this is in 5-star hospitals. Because there is no swift justice, no fear of accountability I guess

FWIW, Fitbit recently recalled their smartwatches for the same reason. While it is a global recall, do not know the status in India. I was thinking of buying one but am now on hold.
