I have a Canon Analog SLR - Very good indeed but gathering dust for past few years 
For Digicam's I have an unusual preference - I have two Panasonic's !!! My first was FZ-7 which was bought after a lot of research on camera forums - this thing has a Leica lens - which is undoubtedly one of the very best lens makers, and also 10x Optical Zoom which was a rarity 3 years ago (Canon S2-IS was its competitor). Since then Panasonic has improved this line a lot and even today its one of the best in its class (non-DSLR but more than P&S)Panasonic also has TZ series which is amazingly small and yet have great optical zooms. For me optical zoom is what makes or mars a Digicam.I am so happy with my FZ-7 that I bought another P&S from Panny for my wife - FS3. Not a great choice (The day time performance is good but flash is too tiny for night) but still good bang for your buck.

well, I own a Point and shoot Canon model..Canon A460..i love canon S3Is..but could not afford it
