I have the N9 SE, but I guess the procedure will be the same. It's pretty straightforward actually. Download the APK of WhatsApp from WhatsApp.com and transfer it to your tablet. Install it. When asked for number, enter your desired phone number (I entered my mobile number). You will receive an SMS on your phone but WhatsApp will say verification failed as it does not detect any SMS on your device ie your tablet. Take the call functionality, you will get a call on your phone. Then enter the 3 digit code and you are ready to use.Mind you that if you intend to use WhatsApp on WiFi then install it when you are connected to your WiFi network. And if you plan to use it via a dongle, then install it with the internet connection of your dongle. That's because WhatsApp recognizes the tablet as two different devices with and without the dongle, and gives a pop-up saying that you are using WhatsApp on the same number on another device too.
A couple of Tablets didn't even Allowed Installation of Whatsapp APK, or rejected activation for some reasons,
Recently I installed it on couple of Cheap Tablets for friends, Installed it on my own micromax funbook p300, works like a charm...
