Blocking ADs at router level

I bought TP-Link Archer A6 recently, I was thinking to block the ADs on a router level. I have heard that Archer A6 is OpenWRT compatible. Any recommendations on how I should proceed?

If you want a simpler solution you can always use AdGuard's dns servers.

IPv4
For "Default" servers:
176.103.130.130
176.103.130.131
For "Family protection" servers:
176.103.130.132
176.103.130.134

IPv6
For "Default" servers:
2a00:5a60::ad1:0ff
2a00:5a60::ad2:0ff
For "Family protection" servers:
2a00:5a60::bad1:0ff
2a00:5a60::bad2:0ff

It's pretty good at blocking most web and app ads. Not youtube ads though.

Some family friendly DNS's somehow let's websites know they should be family safe and blocks youtube comment section, hide some videos, filters google search results too.

I know OpenDNS family servers do this: 208.67.220.123 and 208.67.222.123

Not sure if AdGuard goes that far. need to test.

I have set the DNS servers everywhere, on router, in settings in Windows as well as Android. Can't see any effectbas of now. How much times does it take to update?

It should be instant. Where did you test? Try androidpolice.com with and without the dns and see if their ads load.

That is strange, unless you're using some private DNS or DNS over HTTPS feature. See 1.1.1.1 — the Internet’s Fastest, Privacy-First DNS Resolver to see what DNS server you're using.

Check the AS name.
