Botim - not working or being blocked only on 5G? - Workaround available

Botim used to work just fine on a 4G / LTE phone with a Jio SIM. As soon as the Jio SIM was inserted on a new phone with 5G capabilities, 5G was activated almost immediately. Since then, Botim could not connect to the other end successfully. As soon as the other person answers the call, the status becomes "connecting" and it remains there forever. Usually, the status shows the actual call duration.

On my Samsung M14 (a 5g capable phone), I tried to use LTE only mode (under mobile networks). Botim still didn't work. Weird.

Anyway, as a workaround, I enabled (local) VPN through DuckDuckGo browser. Once the (local) VPN connection is established, Botim started to work normally. I think any VPN will work. I just used the (local) VPN functionality in DuckDuckGo browser.

I am going to test it on another user who has shown exact issue a couple of months ago. 5G phone with Jio SIM. Botim wasn't working under normal conditions. That user uses a WiFi network to make Botim work. That wifi network is actually a Jio network through a JioFi device where a Jio 4G / LTE SIM is attached.

Anyone else noticed this issue?

PS: Anyone wondering why I use Botim, it is only to connect with family and friends in gulf where it seems WhatsApp and some other popular services seem banned or being charged for usage.

Is it better than Whatsapp for Video calling? I am having lots of issue with Whatsapp Video call on Jio 5G.
With respect to your issue, have you tried setting cloudflare IPv6 DNS (DoH) in your mobile (Most of the Jio related issues are due to IPv6)

Once a user activates 5G, he gets ipv6 only network. Even downgrading to LTE only mode or inserting the sim into a 4G device doesn't work. It's still ipv6 only. IPv4 sites are working in both cases by CLAT. But instant messaging apps are having issues.

I don't think it is due to IPv6. I checked accessing IPv4 only sites that work as usual.

Is it better than Whatsapp for Video calling?

I don't think so. There is a paid upgrade in BOTIM that supposedly provides better quality calls and videos. Premium subscription is available at Rs.330 per month for 5 members. Or Rs.1100 per year for individuals.

I just tried Cloudflare DoH (one.one.one.one). No luck. As per https://community.cloudflare.com/t/dns-over-https-ipv6/148282 , one.one.one.one automatically resolves to IPv6 on an IPv6 only network.

I tried entering IPv6 address mentioned in the above link. Android (13) just doesn't accept any IPv6 or IPv4 address. The Android DoH value accepts only a hostname.

IPv4 sites works fine in IPv6 only environment because the OS has inbuilt CLAT. In case of Android it's "clatd.c". But the messaging apps doesn't have it yet.
