Yes many members had noticed that. I have a friend here (I think) who now comes here only when he needs help. (An old member) He's become a real KPM.
(Kaama Purta Maama) 😁😝
Then complains nobody helps him🤦‍♂️

Some Explanation regarding the issue at hand.

BSNL NOC teams in each city gets username of suspected customers of unusual activity by DoT.
Why you might got blocked?
1) Most common reason is botnet. Check there is a section in your ONT settings named Common Ports. Where Wan side ports should be unchecked otherwise some kind of botnet generates huge amounts of upload traffic(more than 200gb per day).

2) Unusual data transfer between outside(other countries) servers.

Dot gives instructions to act on these issues as soon as possible and then have to submit a compliance report.

1st issue is easy to check and rectify but in OP's case local officials must have not done their job properly. Most are not knowledgeable enough. Staff is old and not everyone is tech savy. And then central server blocked the userid.

2nd is had to find. There was a case that happed. A huge hotel was using alibaba dns as primary dns on main server.. That created 1000s of request per minute to Chinese servers. That got flagged.

@OP741 Thanks for the insight.

Do you happen to know what counts as "unusual"? Are these guidelines written down and maybe available for everyone to read?

They don't have a clue how their customers use the connection given to them and it seems arbitrary and harsh to block them off because they find the traffic patterns to be "unusual".

I think you hit the nail on the head. The thing is nobody in BSNL is accountable for anything. As an e.g. for last one week my broadband and telephone was down. I reported it, nothing happened. Even the 1500 and 1504 numbers were constantly engaged. Then finally after waiting for 2-3 days used a jio dongle, connected and tried complaining using BSNL portal, I was not able to do it on their register complaint.

Even after all this, finally managed to lodge a complaint at BSNL CUSTOMER CARE . For some unknown reason they had flagged my old profile. Maybe I had not been using it so much but then I hardly have had problems with BSNL ADSL2 for years (almost a decade using their service).

Cut to now. So when I got a complaint number, it was restrored but with slow speed, I am paying for 256 kbps but hardly getting 100 kb and the whole 2 GB thing or whatever is no more there :(

I complained again, they disconnected and after few hrs, got the connectivity but still low-speed.

Now If I try to raise technical complaint via BSNL portal, I am thrown out, meaning have to relogin again. I have no clue how to approach this other than hoping to get Bharat Fiber maybe couple of months down the line and avoiding the issue altogether. I would be happy even if I get speed of 10-20 mbps as that seems to be a tall task. I also did observe that BSNL broadband is now no more there or otherwise would have posted more.

I have had issues in the past where for some sites you couldn't reach and even though they were not banned, you just couldn't and found out later it was a routing issue at their end.
