BSNL Broadband: Cant connect In PPPoE mode PLzzz. HELP!!!!

Hello,

I currently use internet via bridge mode on my PC, its working fine. I use dialer to connect to internet. No issues.

But I can't access the Router settings Page(198.168.1.1)

Now i have bought a new iPod Touch, as it supports Wi-Fi, i needed to connect modem in PPPoE mode for a always on connection with dataone id/pass in modem settings.

Now i configured the modem for PPPoE(by reseting the modem as i can't access router page on PC),
but can't browse internet on PC.

But i can use the internet on my iPod and can access router settings page.

Where can be the problem?

Using windows XP SP2 with ITI DNA A211-1(wifi) modem and iPod Touch.

I have to switch between bridge and pppoe if i have to use internet in PC and iPod. this is getting on my nerves

kindly suggest what to do.

In short

I want to access internet in pppoe mode on PC.

Access the router settings page on PC(any mode).

You have to use "Always On" mode PPPoE
to be selected in WAN page , instead of "Bridged"
Enable DHCP in router.
In computer/s laptops select
ObtainIp address automatically.

If you get connected to Internet now
check your IP.
Current IP Check
then type it in address bar.
Access to modem/router window will appear.

Else RESET ( access point bottom round hole)
to factory settings.
You may access Internet again in "Dialer"mode.
CHECK.

Still can't connect the PC in Always On mode.When I configure the router to PPPoE mode,LAN gets disconnected even though the DSL line is stable.

Which web site link you followed ? After entering details for PPPoE in wan page etc,go to Maintainence or Mangement and then click SAVE Reboot.Wait for 2 minutes.Now if you can access the modem settings pages create a Back up. See under TOOLs.Disable the Dialer mode In computer.Also In IE Internet options Advanced Connections select Never dial a connection.Feed back.

I followed all the links mentioned by you.Still I m not able to get the router settings page in my pc.

After entering details for PPPoE in wan page etc

go to Maintainence or Mangement and then click SAVE Reboot.
Wait for 2 minutes.

I configured the router in PPPoE mode,rebooted the modem then also the PC can't open Router Page.



Disable the Dialer mode In computer.
Also In IE Internet options Advanced Connections
select Never dial a connection.
Feed back.

Done that still the problem is not solved.

Till now I hav Done These:

Configured router in PPPoE mode.

Changed LAN settings in PC:





Done Both Way..

Disabled Firewall and Anti Virus..

Now LAN is connected but still can't access router page and internet on PC.

PC only works in Bridge mode (can access internet but not settings page).

Current IP Check
then re type the Ip address in browser address bar.
A window may open asking for UserId/PW to access your modem settings.

Enter OpenDNS in TCP/IP config page.
208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222

4. Also in the modem/router DNS
uncheck obtain DNS automatically and enter above IP's

Sorry for late reply.My problem is resolved.My PC was infected by virus and trojans .Now I m able to connect in PPPoE mode.@essebbe Thanks a ton for your timely help.
