Hey bro i called bsnl office and told them about my Downstream rate. They are telling me that it is not their fault, and download speed does not depend on Downstream rate.
Thats nothing strange becoz almost 70-80% of the employees sitting in the Bsnl Exchanges specially for handling Broadband technical queries are so dumb that it justs like a waste of money on their salaries by Bsnl. Even in my exchange the J.E handling broadband queries is so dumb & less knowleged that most of the times I meet him or call him, he learns one or two things from me. Some days back he was telling me that PPPoE mode doesn't work in
Windows 7, I should get Windows XP, How Silly? I have never done any comp. course or any such thing still I know more than him regarding Broadband and 3G.
Anyways that the situation in most parts of country we face with these guys. Regarding downstream rate , It is related to download speed in the way that your actual download speed cannot be above it. As in your case you u r getting 1000 kbps downstream, then your download speed will never cross 1mbps(130KBps transfer rate) whichever plan you have - 2mbps or 4mbps or higher until this is increased. If you were on a 256/512kbps or 1mbps plan then there would have been no impact of it.
You would need to work it out through talking with someone else in exchange or register a complaint on 1504 and try if u r successful. Or you may remain on this speed if you don't try. If you are on home 500 night plan then you are loosing heavily as you can downloaded twice if u can get it through.
