Hi Guys,I have a new BSNL broadband connection with Netgear ADSL N150 Modem Router at home and many websites like Facebook, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail is not working properly. OS: Windows 7 UltimateFirewall:Windows 7AV:Avast FreeNetgear ADSL2 N150 Modem Settings:

Multiplexing Method : LLC Based

VPI : 0

VCI : 35

DSL Mode : Auto Multi Mode

Encapsulation : PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet)Service Name: blankIdle Timeout:0I have changed the DNS Server on my computer in the following order:202.54.1.30218.248.240.181202.54.6.1208.67.222.2224.2.2.48.8.4.4156.154.70.1At router level it is set to get DNS automatically from ISP server and the current one is DNS Server: 218.248.245.1218.248.255.141Even setting the router DNS to manual, google public dns server 8.8.4.4 and Open DNS didnt work. Some times the ADSL light on the modem remains ON but no internet connection. I have tried different orders of the above for Primary and alternative DNS servers. But still no use. Is the problem with routing rather than with DNS server?Any solution to this issue?

You can use Opera Turbo till you get this fixed. It will open those sites for you.To solve the issue, try different MTU values as suggested above. Say 1440, 1450 etc

I gave MTU as 1450 after finding the MTU using this thread at dslreports - Max MTU: How do I find mine? Tweaking FAQ | DSLReports.com, ISP Information

Go to Start/ Programs/ Accessories/ Command Prompt and type the following:

ping -f -l 1472 www.dslreports.com
(That is a dash lower case "L," not a dash "1." Also note the spaces in between the sections.)

Linux users:

ping -s 1472 www.dslreports.com

OS X users:

ping -D -s 1472 www.dslreports.com

Linux and OS X commands are case sensitive.

Press Enter. Then reduce 1472 by 10 until you no longer get the "packet needs to be fragmented" error message. Then increase by 1 until you are 1 less away from getting the "packet need to be fragmented" message again.

Add 28 more to this (since you specified ping packet size, not including IP/ICMP header of 28 bytes), and this is your MaxMTU.

Now the sites seem to load without any troubles. The BSNl support is hopeless. I called them atleast 10-15 times and what they told me was to change the DNS server and eventually to contact my computer dealer!

Many Thanks for the help ...
