My IP starts with 117 only.

Is that a problem ??

Im on 1350 UL and it should be 2mbps , but its always less than 0.87 Mbps. Is that creating the problem ?

Earlier it was fine, but since 2-3 days, Im facing this issue.

@ckr97
could you check whether TR_69 client box is enabled in your modem router/
if so disable it. ( BSNL also does not use this facilty)
confirm your ip is now 172.xx and not 117.xx ( new info )

@essbee - any further suggestion.To All - I thought BSNL is only problematic. I just went to Airtel sub-forums and saw many unhappy customers their too. Bottomline, no ISP is good :) Its all your luck :)

Please check if u have power voltage fluctuations.My modem restarts often due to voltage fluctuation.

My problem is back. For some reason at night or during early morning the connection is more stable and after that it starts resetting on its own.Do you think it could be a problem with the modem? I think it might be the modem because when I checked the date of manufacture on the adapter it read '07 and if I assume that the modem has been created on the same date then I got a 3 year old lousy equipment.I went through the settings and did what was asked on the sticky but the stability was but for a moment. The connection kept going haywire and at some point the pop up 'Network cable unplugged' gets shown before it gets connected again and do note that this happens when I haven't even touched neither the modem nor the power switch or go for a reboot on the modem page.So kindly offer a suggestion. Thanks again for all your help.

Borrow friend' modem or use your modem on another broadband connection so that you can find out what is causing the problem. I had the same problem and the bsnl people came and the line is ok your modem is problematic then I borrowed modem and splitter from my relative which working fine in their home and at my home dsl on and off my modem at their house worked well then they tried and fixed the problem.

@sahyadri - No power fluctuations. I am using a UPS too.@mvb4u - thanks for suggestion. I can try using another modem, once I get hold of it.

After a brief stint with BSNL which lasted for over 3 weeks the people there finally sent a couple of line men who checked the line and confirmed that the line was ok. Which meant that the problem is within the modem itself. Finally I got a not so new modem type UT-300R2U. I had lot of trouble trying to configure it manually since the auto-config wizard wouldn't open up in Firefox and then I tried IE and I was finally able to surf the web for like 3 hrs straight without a problem and then around the 4-5(th) hour I noticed that the ADSL light kept going on and off and sometimes in the log it would show that the link was up but I couldn't surf web-pages and only after a modem restart did the connection come back online. The old modem UT Starcom Type 2 blew the DSL lamp so I couldn't see what was up. In this one I can clearly see that the ADSL link is the root of all my nagging problems.I just want to know how the DSL lamp goes off, I mean what conditions cause it to go off. Like a power fluctuation or the modem being faulty. I know its not the line because the line was OK when the line man checked it. Also, I don't really mind the frequent disconnections associated with my modem(s). Its just that the dynamic ip results in the loss of some important files if it were a .exe or a .rar file which results in an Unexpected termination of any software install or a corrupted archive in Winrar. So all I'm left is with .mp3, .avi and what not. Anyway I'll get to the point again, I would like to know what makes the DSL play Hide-n-Seek and if there are ways to rectify it. Thanks in Advance and sorry for the long post.

Guys,I had same problem but it was frequent reset. after replacing the power adaptor the issue was fixed.ThanksBala

That's right. Even my Airtel's link was unstable since 15 days. Today engineer replaced the power adapter and now link seems to be stable. :)

@guys: Thanks for all those replies. My problem has finally been solved. It turned out to be a line problem. After replacing the entire line I was finally able to surf without any frequent interruptions like I did back when I first got the modem. So just saying, if it ain't the modem then ask them to check and replace the line. Thanks again for the wonderful replies/suggestions.
