BSNL Broadband
Hi, I am from Jaipur and have been using BSNL broadband (home 750 UL Plus plan) for more then two years. I have type-I modem currently. Now I need to buy a Wi-Fi modem for my laptop as well as my desktop pc. Please suggest me best wireless modem available in the market or from bsnl itself (and price if possible). Also, do suggest me, which one is better modem from bsnl type-II of type-IV. Thanks in advance. :) Mahendra

Ideally, you'd pick up a modem from outside, instead of from BSNL.
Belkin routers are easy to setup, Linksys is usually seen to be reliable for the home, and TP-Link is almost a chinese brand but still is a brand with good prices.

You should be able to get a pretty decent one for about rupees 2.5k.
If you add specific requirements, you'd need to look at higher priced models.

As an aside (and a shameless self-promoting spam :P ) , do take a look at the topic I just posted as well. I'm also about to purchase a wifi router today or tomorrow. Link to my thread - Question: should i get Netgear DGN2000 wifi router? - India Broadband Forum

Belkin routers are easy to setup,
Croma is quoting the Wireless G RouterFSD7230AK4 at Rs1999....Is this a good price?

Belkins USA website Quotes this at US$40=INR1960 (1USD=49INR)
Howz the stability of belkins models?
I HAVE NO BANDWIDTH TO SPARE

Requirements.......

[*]ADSL2+ modem+wifi router combo.Dont want those stand alones
[*]As cheap as possible & possible in/under 2k price range(Not chinese 1 month then KAPUT!!!! crap,So 1 yr ENFORCABLE WARRANTY,coz i will not go to their service center in china ;))
[*]Easy to set up with my Dell inspiron WinXP/Vista/Linus/Mac OS X
[*]Stable high 2048/512 speeds.None of that 2048 on wired LAN,56k on wireless
[*]With one LAN port so I can plug in me old faithfull desktop also
[/list]Wanna give back my MTNL Utstar 300R2U after almost 2 years of glorious trouble free 2048/512 service(yes my internal wiring was crap, not the Utstar)
Dont ever wanna make the mistake of paying rent+serv tax+edu cess on it month after month to MTNL

Skorpio1,Firstly what you are looking for is an all in one. You are looking for modem+Wifi+LAN.That Belkin model you have mentioned, is NOT such a device. It has has only Wifi+LAN.If you want to get rid of paying MTNL for their modem, then don't get that device.Secondly, whether something is a good price depends on what features you want and how much you are willing to pay. When something costs rupees 2k in croma, you'll get it for 300 rupees lesser outside. And even lesser if you go to Lamington Road, but thats a different matter.... Anyway, expect to pay around 2.5k for a basic all in one device of the kind that you are looking for. That price is almost the same no matter which brand you choose, since they'll all be budget devices.

my request is don't go for BSNL products..........Get Linksys the legenry company in the Networking .....and linksys is good for u.............:)

Thanks for the info.Guess i have to double my original estimate from 1.5 to 3 k
