hi ,but i have not yet got the card ,yet spoke the sde from tallakulam he said i can get a usb card and he does not know whether it is a rev_0 or rev_A....can any one tell me whether if i buy rev_0 card ( i have option only to buy now ..no rental) can i just upgrade the rev_0 to rev_A with just the software update or do we need a hardware upgrade as well?does the bsnl in chennai do they sell rev_A card ?

@rams832002,evdo-REV-A is a new technology however it is not implemented /completed all Inda.. services to be stablish in six months..If they are giving you evdo-REV-0 then you can use it even when they upgrade it to evdo-Rev-A,but with old speed..to enjoy evdo you must again purchase evdo rev-A card which may be a double expenditure... On the box it self it will state evdo-REV-A.. if the SDE don't knoe because the tower was not upgraded, you must got evdo-REV-0 card.. so you may have to wait for some time

thanks vaithy, i have certain doubts regarding the REV_A ,can i get the those cards in chennai ? if yes where can i get those cards? i mean the CSC centre where we will get the rev_a card?thanks, ramanakumar

EVDO signal is very very poor in Madurai east masi st exchange area, my off is near that exchange only but poor signal. On enquiry they say its faith nothing can be done. Pl wait before buying EVDO. But tallakulam customer care helps nicely, indeed when there is no signal what to do. Any pl inform me where to make this complain,

I think u may get gud signal there, u can ask at tallakulam csc for demo at ur place. they will send their staff for demo.but remember evdo has limited coverage, try 3g.also evdo transmitters r only in 3 places or 2 places in madurai, 1 in mela anuppanadi and other in tallakulam.

All CDMA USB modems have to be purchased from the service provider-like BSNL EVDO,Tata photon,Reliance Netconnect and MTS.

Except BSNL EVDO all others mentioned above cost rs 1000 minimum for 10 GB.

MTS offers 12 GB for Rs 1000.

If you go for 3G ,then you buy any unlocked modem and use say BSNL and others, ( Iam not sure Vodaphone,Airtel,Aircel 3G which are all available in chennai and coimbatore is available in madurai)
BUt there is no such un limited in 3G also. Rs 750 gets you 2 Gb and for Rs 1500 ,you can get 15 GB (BSNL)
Unless you area travelling person, better get a wired ADSL broadband from reliance or BSNL.
EVDO (Rs 750 +tax I think)speeds are maximum 500-750 kbps only. That modem can not be used for anything else.
