BSNL EVDO speed is pretty decent in the morning

blueman, you can take a demo device from bsnl office by paying rs 1200/- and test the speed at ur home, if speed is not ok then u can return it and get ur money back, if it is fine then u shuld buy from bsnl office only, because u'll get rs 399 balance in it and if u opt dongle from market then u'll have to pay rs 350 for activation also, so total loss of rs 749/-, and activate general plan with ur connection, in this plan u'll have freedom of recharging it, don't activate unlimited or any other plan in prepaid because u'll be bound to recharge every month in those plans.
Most of the Bsnl branches are out of stock in chennai..atleast in and around my locality..Thats one of the problems.I'm trying to get one from a fanily friend,or rather i will try chrompet branch as harishanand said.@harishanand could you give me the branch contact no so i could call then uo and confirm before going?

@cmsivasubramanian,which unlocked modem did you get from eBay? I am also going to get a evdo connection. Should I get the modem from bsnl or from eBay? The bsnl guy says that the price of modem is from 1.6k to 1.8k according to the modem type.

the cost of bsnl modem is rs 1199/- as per bsnl website, if u opt for general plan then total cost will be around rs 1199 plus sim cost( 40 rs)

one can recharge as per his requirement in general plan, like if he needs one day pack he can recharge with rs 55/-; if he needs one mth unlimited, he can recharge with rs 825 stv etc.( as bsnl office told me)

I dont need a demo bro..My modem is faulty..i found out..and speed is reaching 2mbps also in daytume for me..but my modem is faulty so doesnt seem to be stable..i will try getting one from bsnl itself..

can you post screenshot of download speed which you get while downloading in IDM?

It is not stable bro..it keeps moving between 1.1mbps and 1.6mbp if i keep it in some particular direction..sometimes it moves between 1900kbos to 2300kbps but only when kept in some wierd place..but after 30-60 seconds speeds falls to 1mbps..and if i furthur even slightly move the modem or usb cable it becomes 600kbps-900kbps..Thats why im thinking of changing the modem.Abt speed when it goes at 1600+ i get 200-250 in idm and very rarely it goes 280-330..But most of the time it is around 90-180..Do note I get full signal.
