BSNL offers 20% discount on rent for six months from the date of activation to all new customers of Broadband during the festive offer period from 01-10-2008 to 31-10-2008.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd- Latest News

I got my Home 1350 UL plan activated on 20-09-2008. If I had waited for 10 more days I would have saved Rs. 1620 + Service tax over a period of 6 months.

1) My Home 1350 UL connection is on a new line.

2) BSNL has abolished security deposit for new lines so saved around Rs 2000/-

3) BSNL is not charging "1 month plan charges" as security deposit for new Broadband connections in my area (I guess in whole MH/Goa circle) again saved Rs 1350/-

4) Purchased my modem from outside and did installation myself.

5) This means I have not paid a single rupee to BSNL just filled up a form for new line and second form for activating BB on that line

6) My line got installed and activated within 2 days and BB got activated and working within next 2 days.

5) Let me tell that my BB got activated on 20-09-2008

7) Now when when my first bill (for Sept month) arrived it had the following charges:
a) Rs 1350/- Sept Rental
b) Rs 1350/- Advance Oct Rental.
c) Service tax + edu cess tax ........

8) I asked BSNL staff that as my BB connection was activated on 20-09-2008 I should be charged only for 11 days from 20-09-2008 to 30-09-2008. and not for the whole month.

9) BSNL staff at my exchange enquired with his senior officers and replied that in case of Unlimited BB plans they charge for the whole month no matter when the connection was activated. This means if you get your connection activated on the last day of the billing cycle still you will be charged for the whole month i.e. full monthly rental.

10) further discussing with BSNL staff I asked what If I had Home 250 plan with download limitations but speed upto 2 mbps (I download a lot of GBs ) and then at the end of the month I switch to Home 750 UL. He replied that I will have to pay only Rs 750 + tax. All my additional download during 250 plan with 2 mbps speed will be ignored as the plan for billing will be 750 UL.

11) But in case I had Home 1000 Plan and then I switch to Home 750 UL at the end of the month I will still be charged rs. 1000 + extra download charge + taxes this is because Home 1000 Plan is a higher plan that Home 750 UL and they consider Higher plan for billing.

BSNL babus are taking you for a ride. :PPoints 8, 9, 10, 11 are vague and wrong. If say you get broadband on the 16th of April, you will be charged only for remaining 14 days (as April as 30 days).I was charged only for 5 days when I got my connection on the 27th of March. I am going to dump this BSNL shit asap. :@These babus don't even know what they are talking about.

they calculate on the number of days you used for first month ! (i was on 900 UL) and they charged me according to that... So.. they cant charge you 1350 for 10 days ! Let the bill come :|

@iChaitanya

What was ur BB plan? were u on unlimited plan?

Plan 1: Home UL750+
Plan 2: Home 500C

Plan 1: Home UL750+
Plan 2: Home 500C

That means you were charged for only 5 days for Home 750+ Plan ???

8) I asked BSNL staff that as my BB connection was activated on 20-09-2008 I should be charged only for 11 days from 20-09-2008 to 30-09-2008. and not for the whole month.

I got BSNL UL connection at 19th Feb 2008. They charged only for those 10 days for the month of FEB, not for the whole month.
