BSNL Fiber FTTH ONU recommendation for using BSNL voice with FreePBX

Hi everyone,


I am planning to take a BSNL FTTH (Bharat Fiber) connection and BSNL has asked me to use my own ONU/ONT.


My requirement is not just internet — I also want to use the BSNL Fiber voice with my FreePBX setup, which is running on Proxmox.


So I am looking for an ONU that supports:

• GPON / XPON (for BSNL compatibility)
• Works reliably in bridge mode with my own router (openwrt)
• Easy integration to Freepbx for voice

Kindly suggest:

• Which ONU models are known to work well with BSNL FTTH

Any model recommendations or real-world experiences with BSNL FTTH + FreePBX would be very helpful.

For BSNL make sure any ONT you buy is TEC certified.

BSNL is Providing Syrotech SY GPON 2010 WADONT for 2500 does it help in setting up voice in FreePBX?

i have followed this post and it was easy peasy lemon squeezy to make bridge connection - just dont forget to clone PPPOE mac address into your router

I’m looking for guidance on configuring BSNL FTTH Voice to work with FreePBX running on Proxmox, so that I can make and receive inbound/outbound calls using FreePBX instead of the ISP ONT.

Current Internet & Network Setup​

• ISP: BSNL FTTH
• ONT: Syrotech ONT
  
  • Internet VLAN is bridged
  • VOICE / TR069 (VID 1831) remains in route mode
• Network path:
  • ONT (internet bridge)
    → TP-Link TL-R600VPN (multi-WAN router)
    → OpenWrt router
    → Unmanaged switch
    → Proxmox host → FreePBX

Virtualization & PBX​

• Hypervisor: Proxmox VE
• PBX: FreePBX running as a VM

What I want to achieve​

• Use BSNL FTTH Voice (SIP) directly in FreePBX
• Enable inbound and outbound calls
• Understand:
  
  • Whether BSNL SIP credentials can be used in FreePBX

I’m aware that BSNL typically provisions voice on the ONT, but I’m trying to understand if there is a supported or workable method to register BSNL Voice on FreePBX, or if this is technically blocked.


Any guidance, real-world experience, or references would be greatly appreciated.
