Hi,

I am facing an issue with my BSNL fiber connection. After connecting to my office VPN, I am not able to access internal or external sites. I am able to ping though. I have also raised concern with BSNL team. my office IT team is telling it is a problem with the router that is shipped with BSNL connection. But I have not gotten any confirmation from bsnl team. They asked for traceroute details, which I provided. Anybody else facing similar issues using vpn through BSNL?

See if there is any setting for "pass through" of VPN which you can enable in the router? (PPTP or LT2P)

Haven't seen any issues VPN and BSNL FTTH. Have you tried to restart the ONU/ONT , so that BSNL will assign a new dynamic IP ? ( to know if the issue with few IP ranges ? )

Thanks @vishalrao @vu3knb @varkey for the replies.
@vishalrao I have a Syrotech router installed by bsnl. I checked the router settings, and couldn't find any passthrough configurations in the Network tab. My office IT Team told, try using bridge mode(as there are known issues in bsnl installed routers). But when I enabled bridge mode, I got PPoE auth failure (suspecting a MAC binding at BSNL side).

@vu3knb
I tried restarting ONU, but no luck.

@varkey I changed nameservers to google DNS servers. But still no connectivity. Weird thing is name resolution is working fine and even telnet works. But when I access in browser, it is not loading. Also it is not like all the sites are not working. some works. For eg. google.com works even after connecting to VPN.

@sibidas , Looks like BSNL FTTH do not use mac binding now. For me there were no mac binding , my ONU is in bridge mode now. I believe @varkey also confirmed this in one of the post.

Is this a new connection ? Have tried traceroute ?

@vu3knb yes it is a new connection. I have tried traceroute. But frankly couldn't depict much from that. I am not much of a network person btw :). attaching it.
I will try setting up bridge mode once again and will update here, the steps I followed.
