In that case, what is the password going to be?

Brdr, you'll have to modify your config file again and then you'll have to set the username as ONTUSER and password as something like mybigpassword as shown in a very helpful video by Geeky Twins.

You'll have to do the step of changing TelnetSshAccount to true and LimitAccount_ONTUSER to false, as well and then only you can get root access.

I tried using ONTUSER as the username in telnet and its a no go. wont even let me enter a password.

Update: Okay man. Ill try that.

That worked! I was able to get root access in telnet and successfully changed the
MfrID, G984Serial and YPSerialNum. It also reflected in the device info page.

Now how would i change the mac address? (or bind the mac address?) I am not able to find any info about it on the internet.

There's also a MACAddress output when you use ritool dump
Maybe you can try using ritool set MACAddress, not sure if it'll work though.

Hey man. Thank you so much! I'll report back after getting in touch with the BSNL techs here.

Also will the BSNL-Alphion router lose the Mac Binding if the connection is binded to the Nokia?

Update: Will try that as well.

Yes, Alphion's MAC will no longer be bound to the backend in that case.
