@xyz111 I have an Openwrt-based setup that I am running on a Raspberry Pi 4b and the WAN MAC address is from a USB Ethernet adapter from TP-Link. The Raspberry Pi onboard Ethernet is for LAN.

First is the ONT MAC authentication with OLT, which, if the OLT doesn't enforce, you are good to go with any ONT of your choice, or you have to ask LCO to reset it. Then comes the WAN MAC, which you can either copy from ONT or reset, and they will lock the new WAN MAC of the router upon the next reboot.

Rest, I leave it for you to interpret.

Also, MAC address is a 48-bit identifier and is different for each device. You can search "mac address bits" to get more info.

Do you need vlan on router for something specific?
Because I haven't tried setting up vlan for internet or voice or anything on my Asus router.
I tagged vlan in ONT and that's it.

I have mentioned the bridge mode steps. Did you not read it?

No I don't need VLAN for anything specific. I just need to be able to use my landline that's all. If VLAN tagging in ont is enough then that will do. That's what I was asking.

Yes I had read the steps but didn't remember it exactly at the moment.

My lco is saying he has not yet been given the modem(ont) userid and password by bsnl, it's been more than 2 weeks. So I can't login to 192.168.1.1 and access the configuration. Any idea how long till LCO is given the password? They changed the default id password (admin/stdONU101). I tried all common passwords from reddit but didn't work.

Any password suggestion welcome.
