BSNL FTTH slow speed and high latency

Hello, i have a 60mbps plan with BSNL FTTH. I reside in a village where there is less than 20 connections. The current signal strength is 23dbm. My work laptop and desktop are using wired connection. The ONT is in bridge mode with my TP-Link Archer router with 1492 MTU. I'm using Cloudflare DNS for WAN and also all my devices get Cloudflare DNS via DHCP.

I don't get speeds more than 25mbps. It does not matter, day, night, early mornings it stays the same. I wrote around 37 complaints in CPGRAMS portal and countless complaints on BSNL complaint portal. I even got a call from the DGM office due to excessive complaint.

But the issue is still present. I cannot attend any meetings due to latency spiking to 2s every minute and short disconnections (10-15s) all the time. Traceroute to github has 30+ hops and the internet is literally unusable.

I'm in a remote location where there is no mobile network, other ISP available. I had to leave my house and take a rented house in a another town because I'm unable do any work because of internet issues.

traceroute is stopped.

Anybody have any idea on how to solve this? I'm helpless as of now and exhausted. Local LCO is also dumb as a rock and does not understand anything. CPGRAMS complaint gets resolved with random answers. Starlink looks to be the only solution but it is not coming this year it seems due to stupid regulatory compliance and lobbying by other players in the industry.

Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Got the connection in 2022. And in 2023 the issues started. At that time the LCO told that BSNL is upgrading few stuff and he gave an updated VLAN ID

Traceroute seems fine to google, github also looks fine and might just be an icmp request issue. Low speed could be a hardware issue somewhere. Check your setup, cables, router, etc. Try with the ONT directly too. The issue could be ISP side too or LCO, maybe speed is limited in OLT.

I'm pretty confident about my setup. I tried with 3 different ONTs, direct from ONT to desktop, different MTU values, different cables, different routers, multiple devices.

LCO sent a screenshot from an app where the speed is set to 60mbps. He says no QOS is set. I believe there is something wrong in OLT because all the connection in our Village are having the same issue. But nobody from BSNL is ready to look into it

No need to mess with MTU values, let it auto-negotiate with the connection. Have you used the selfcare site to submit a complaint before going CPGRAMS route?

I could see that MTU requested by the OLT is 1492 so I set it to 1492. But no luck

Yes, I used self-care portal to submit the complaint over 100times. It gets auto resolved (or LCO marks it resolved?) after sometime with no action. They don't even bother to call or visit

OLT does not do that, 1492 is the max for PPPoE and negotiated with the PPPoE server automatically.
Back to the issue, it could be that the LCO did something. Only BSNL can take a look and fix if something is wrong. All of the people from your place should complaint together to BSNL so that they take it seriously.

Better go for SDM Telephones of your area just ask bsnl local office they will give. Raise the complaint with him.
