A friend is getting a new BSNL connection and he has been asked to either buy one from BSNL (Terracom) wi-fi modem . The people at BSNL have no clue except some details like it supports 30m and 2.5 Mhz. On the other side, he has been told, if he is interested he can get buy a Belkin n-300 from outside.Any suggestions on what he needs to do.

Imo, get the basic adsl modem without wifi from bsnl and depending on his budget he can get a standalone wifi router from the market. Most terracom routers do offer decent range, but buying from the marker will give him greater choice. Also, avoid Belkin like the plague.

Hmm. But costwise it will add to be more right? Modem + Router > Wi-Fi modem .. He lives in a 2 BHK small house. So mostly distance should be ok.

Yes, the setup I'd suggested will cost more. Now that you tell me that the house is small, the bsnl terracom wifi modem will work fine!
