BSNL MODEM: Warranty Period

Hi,I recently got a new broadband connection and purchased ADSL basic modem from BSNL.With in two weeks of purchase modem is not starting properly, and i suspect this is due to loose connection at the power port. I went to BSNL office on this issue asking for repair or replacement. The most funny thing I heard from them is, warranty is only on the accessories like adapter and cables but not on the modem.I just want clarification on this one. If warranty period covers modem also, please help me whom to contact so that my problem gets solved.Regards,Kranthi

Modems( if faulty) on rent are changed/replaced often.
Modem purchased outright is replaced within 6 months or one year.
If you had been given an old unit , without original packing Box

meet the D.E and make a complaint.
Take only the modem.
feedback for further action.
You have not posted what is the problem in getting connected to Internet ,
If connected Post
DeviceInfo/Statistics/ADSL data showing snr /attn etc.
Also ipconfig /all
Mention modem/model/make/number.
