Hi,I have been using BSNL BB 500c+ over past 3 years without much problem, till yesterday morning my connection was working fine; when today morning all of a sudden when I turned my Modem on, the power LED switched On as usual, link LED turned ORANGE for a second (as it usually does) but it did not train at all. I switched it off and back on, still no results; I even reset it from the back. Nothing worked. My Tel line is fine. I called 18004241600 and lodged a complaint; they told me the problem could be with my modem.I connected to my modem thru 192.168.1.1 and checked , the LAN to modem test worked fine; which means the modem is connecting to my computer properly. The Local exchg gave me the 12678 Number to contact on, which as expected has been going busy since morning.I know many users here are quite experienced and perhaps even use MT882 modems; Does NO LINK , but OK tel. LINE signify something is wrong with my Modem as stated by dataone call center? or could it be that BSNL server/DSLAM is down and they are not willing/able to confirm the same.I live in Panchkula (near Chandigarh), under BSNL punjab circle.I also remember having frequent disconnections a few nights ago when I kept getting 678 and 718 errors for over half an hour. But that is one of my rare experiences with BSNL BB.Could anyone help me sort this out, I work from home and my BB connection is my lifeline, considering the kind of heavy usage I have. Thanks in Advance!

Hi Faust ,

Note this point of "essbebe".

You should have opted for this reset as last step after trying all possibilities.

Anyway, now it is confirmed that your modem is reset to factory default.

Please redo the initial the settings.
-OR-
contact the person who did it for you.

Good luck!

.

Thanks a lot Essbebe and Jamaltky,The problem, as it turns out, was in the local exchange. Quite unfortunate that it was not easy to contact BSNL. But I guess for the quality of their BB, one can overlook their shoddy customer support (if at all you can call it customer support i.e.!).The connection is back and running; I have made the changes to my modem as you had suggested. Thanks to this forum and its helpful people!
