Hi FriendsIts a question for those who have already Airtel digital tv.1. Are you able to add/edit TPs(transponders) to Airtel STB? Coz I have heard that other service providers have locked TP editing/tuning feature.2. What is the total monthly billing (including tax) of their basic package, ie, silver pkg ?3. Are you satisfied with the quality of service ? And will recommend others too ?

1 don't know about it 2. their basic pack costs 110 pm with taxes 3. Yes i am satisfied with its quality and will surely recommend it to others

no u can't add TP but airtel digital tv have pre-added TP, u can also scan for free to air chennels.monthly billing is min. aprox 110........airtel dth have very good services as compare to other service provide, and also good cc.

To add on to it. In this meagre amount of 110 u get Sony, Star and the likes with Discovery, NGC, Fox which u wont get in any other DTH in this price. And then u have useful top-ups like for ESPN/Star u need to pay 66 with taxes for 3 months, cine plus top up (star movies/hbo/pix/mgm) in 39 with taxes/mnth.I would recomment it. And there is no flaw in quality.

No dth services provider can give better picture/sound quality than local cable wala. Why ?

Here you have to understand how both the technologies work.

1.your local cable wala downloads the original signal of the channel from satellite, then without compressing the signal quality it transmits the signal to your home

2. In contrast, dth operators downloads the signal, compresses the signal and then uploads to again their satellite and dth user downloads that signal from the satellite. Cos dth operators have taken satellite bandwidth as rent they want to accomodate more and more channels into their limited bandwidth by compressing the signal loosing the signal quality

3. Do not confused by digital tv. Unless otherwise your tv has dvi port/interface (which is reraly found),ultimately the user has to convert from digital to analog before viewing the channel and you are actually watching analog signal

4. Again mpeg-4 is not a standard which gives better picture quality rather its better compression technology reducing the picture quality and hence mpeg-4 means less quality than mpeg-2 or original signal quality

but certainly the cable has the biggest drawback that, even if you have power at home and cable wala does not have, you will not be able to see the channels which sometimes gives bitter experience. Where as if you have dth you can watch the channels if you have power at home.

And the biggest disadvantage with dth is, once you bought the hardware from your service provider, you are bound to stick with them and you do not have option to switch the service operator as they all are not oibeying the trai's rule for technical interoperability of dth hardware, which is a must and govt must take action to all dth players

agree with you urpradhan. seems dth provider throwing money in to politician's mouth.

basic pack will cost u 100 /- + 10/- (taxes) but recharge coupens aure availabe in 100/- 50/- 250/- and so onand dont mess with the setting in airtel dth i already tried this but wont succeed u cannot access free to air channels on airtel only Doordarshan DD news and DD loksabha and rajya sabha is available if u dont hav subscribed to any packageull lost all channels if u searched for free to air channels to get them back u hav to switch off the system from power supply and restart system again...among all DTH airtel's service is best technically but in terms of customer care ull hav to worry in the days when there is match on tv no. of subscriber access there toll free no. whole day and ull not get chance to connect with customer care this problem is not too big i recommend airtel dth go for it
