Here's why you should never get a 4G LTE data card from airtel.
Dont get me wrong, the service is good - although a little overpriced. The speeds were high and the pings were low as long as i was using it.
But where it fails is when you try to end the subscription. - The only way to cancel is to call the customer care number and request a cancellation. They will give a confirmation which is in no way verifiable.
I called to request cancellation on 15th of February, was asked to pay that month's due. Paid it, called back and requested cancellation again - at which they confirmed that the connection had been cancelled.
I get another mail on the 26th of february enclosing the bill for that month. - I call the service center and they say that my connection is very much active. - I raise a complaint that I had already requested cancellation which apparently was not done. And request cancellation again.
This time they thankfully process it - although i keep getting a call every 2 days about the last bill that was generated - after i was told that the connection was cancelled. Every time I tell them there is an open issue regarding that last bill.
Ive cleared the bill now - partly because Im tired of their calls. and partly because I heard they send court notices to defaulters and i dont want to risk my clean record.
But this is nothing more that a broken system or really really cheap tactics to bleed money from customers. In either case, shame on them.
Please stay away from this company.

Dealing with something similar with Tata Docomo. Freaking shame they are not required to show evidence that I continued the connection.

in the end there is no proof that the call was made between you and an official representative right?

even in that case, the person on the other side can leave the company. this happened with standard chartered with me...

my 'preferred banking manager' left his job. did not bother to inform me. did not even bother to process my last request with him (downgrade me to regular banking customer from preferred banking customer).

hopefully, i did not lose any money in the process. i was supposed to maintain a MQB of Rs. 2 lakhs with them to remain preferred banking customer. errm. i should go through my bank statements to ensure that no charges were deducted because the assholes do not text/email me for such transactions.
