I have been using Jio fiber connection for the past 1-2 years and there are certain apps like whatsapp, Amazon etc. which works poorly on 5ghz connection, often giving network error, whatsapp, telegram taking 30 seconds to send a message etc. but I have had no problem in any app when I am on 2.4ghz.

Router model number - JCOW414
5GHz channel utilization is around 10%

  • I have used 2 ISPs, with their separate 3 proprietary modems - faced the same issue in all of them (Jio Fiber > Airtel Fiber > Jio Fiber) - So facing the same issue for around 4 years
  • I use android phone and my parents as well, they too face the same problem
  • Only some apps show problem with 5ghz network apps like Netflix, Prime video, youtube etc. runs fine every time.
  • The apps which don't run fine on 5ghz don't always run poorly, but say some apps works poorly 25% of the time, some 50% and some 90% of the time when I am connected to 5ghz network
  • I tried using VPN, but it didn't solve the problem
  • Even some websites (on my phone) don't work well when I am on that network
  • They don't work properly when I am standing right in front of the wifi router or in a different room - hence location of phone doesn't matter
  • No airport near my house, microwave is also at a 10m distance
I recently set routing mode to only IPv4 instead of IPv4/IPv6 which has made situation better, but the problem still exits and is not eliminated.
Can anyone help me to solve this weird issue that I am facing for 4 years

Replace the shitty JioFiber HGW with your with VSOL and a good router and relish the solid performance of your new setup!
You could also get an XX530v.
