My brother has an Airtel connection he never faced any spam issue. He gets value added services activated though.Today he received a message that "Dear user apka Gyaan Saagar ka trial aj khatam ho gaya hai".Earlier they activated some Shaadi pack, eh.

airtel aur vodafone ko bolo they should keep their gyan to themselves most ppl would have more gyan than they will ever have :P

At the moment, I too am inclined towards Airtel. However, have heard shock stories of activation of add-ons on new accounts. Have any of you guys experienced it? It is also a bit sad that they have increased the tariff a bit, not that it hurts, but 1p/s does sound cheaper than 1.2 per second :D

I activated my Airtel account 2.5 years back, haven't faced any auto activation of add on since then.

Recently, there was a network problem with vodafone at our house which forced my Dad to port to Airtel.

He got some free 100(Local/National) SMS, 300 free A2A calls. So if you are porting your number then you might get free stuff as well. :D

^ That sounds cool. I hope I get such an offer, since my limited usage has only a couple of Airtel numbers :D Do you remember if you had to ask for that, and if those freebies are for a limited period or for the entire duration with Airtel?

Alright, I went to the Airtel showroom a short while back to port - with all genuity in my heart :P However, I did not. Reason: their printer / copier did not have any cartridge - or that's what they claimed. They need a copy of my documents, and I asked them to do it on their machines, but they refused. They asked me to get a copy from somewhere. So I went to the nearest copy machine - the Vodafone store near my home :D Have put in a request. Let me see how things go. Porting same number second time in 7 months!I already feel like an MNP champ. I guess this is the best possible case of MNP since they require a minimum of 90 days on each operator, and it really was like only recently that MNP was introduced.

I hope so :D My prior experience with Vodafone - as regards their network - has been very good. Hoping it is the same here too.

Offtopic :Astrology VAS got activated automatically on my number. I had to get it deactivated by calling 198.And Admin is right. Some messages are of such type that if we hit 'OK', it is activated on our phone. Better click on 'CANCEL' or the hit the 'BACK' button. :D

No, my Dad didn't ask for freebies.
But yes they are for a limited period of time (probably 6 months, I don't remember it correctly).

Mind you, people at Airtel Store suck. My dad had to get the same documents photocopied 2-3 times. They said that the photo in in the ID-proof is unclear !
