I tried, no luckHere's what I think may be going wrong, and it cant be a windows firewall since I use mac and the firewall allows incoming for azureus. Here's what I think it isI go to 192.168.1.1 --> Advanced --> Virtual Server Now, my drop down boxes are:Connection: PVC0 selectedLAN IP: 192.168.1.10 (this is for my mac!!)And then the box that has users at the bottomWhen I gave my Mac a static IP of 192.168.1.10, I configured PVC4 to 192.168.1.1Now on my D-Link page, in the drop down box which is set to PVC0, I keep trying to select PVC04 but each time I do, the page refreshes and sets it back to PVC0Any idaes if this is the problem and if so, how to fix it...it's as though the modem refuses to change that box to PVC04And secondly, when I go to System --> Save & Reboot, absolutely nothing happens...i called MTNL...they had no idae what port forwarding was...thanks for all the help guys...any more and id raelly appreciate it!

Hi there

Thanks to all of you for the help. The problem resolved it self...for a while. I was getting 200kbps++. now it's back to 20kbps max.
If I d/l one torrent, it shows up at 20kbps...d/l two and i get 10kbps each. So no matter how many or how few torrents, it's always at 20kbps. I tried port forwarding and it worked but didnt resolve the issue. I have enabled UPnP both in azureus and in the router to no luck.

I guess i have no choice but to switch ISP's...and Airtel isn't available in my area...

Anyway, if anyone has suggestions for:
1. fixing the problem
2. recommending an ISP

please do let me know...thank you

PS: I also tried Transmission (I have a mac) but even that touches a max of 23kbps and then falls to 20kbps

PPS: Here are some screenshots. See if those help...also, which MTNL router is this?!

Guys,

I am also facing problem with torrent speed.
Max torrent speed: 6KBps
ISP: MTNL, Delhi
Router: D-Link DSL-502T
OS: Ubuntu 8.04
P2P client: Transmission.

Please help me.

Hi,Even I have the same router and I can help you open your ports. Please follow the following instructions:
1)Open your router page (192.168.1.1)
2)Go to Advanced in the topmost tab.
3)Choose Virtual Server in the left tab.
4)Select user in the available rules category.
5)Click add, which is to the left of edit.
6)Select a rule name (put anything).
7)Select TCP,UDP in protocol.
8)In the next three fields, enter the port no. you are using.(port start, port end, port map)
9)Click apply.
10)Select Virtual Server again and select user.
11)Highlight the rule you have just created and click add on the right side.
12)Now your rule will appear in the applied rules window as well.
13)Apply the settings and save them.
That's it.I hope it helps you in opening the required ports.

I followed this post and now the max download speed has increased from 6 to 70KBps when downloading from 9 of 9 connected peers.
But I've have a 256KBps UL plan so I think i should get atleast around 150KBps speed.

The problem has come up again!Download speed not going above 25kBps using Transmission as a torrent client.Using MTNL 256 unlimited plan and Ubuntu OS. Other details in above post. Please HELP!-Muks

25kBps is good (almost max possible) on 256k plan

But when i first opened the port, i used to get speed upto 80KBps for first 2 days. Later it went back to 25KBps
