Concerned about RX/TX Power

Hello,

I recently got the TP-Link XZ000-G7 ONU and had my LCO re-splice my cable to APC. It's running in EPON mode, and I checked the TX/RX levels: 1.80 dBm / -25.38 dBm respectively. While I'm getting good speed test results (250Mbps connection) and haven’t faced any issues, I’ve read online that these levels are considered poor. Does this need attention? What could be causing it, and how can I fix it? Thanks!

It's ok, problem will occur under -27dbm and over 4dbm for your onu.

Btw what upstream do you get, Airtel or TATA. Can you share traceroute results to anycast2-sgp1.valve.net
Also do speedtests on international servers such as Pilot Fiber on US and check if you are getting 250mbps

Thanks! I'm attaching traceroute results and a few speed tests on international servers. I'm using Cloudflare DNS, and it appears I'm getting TATA as the upstream provider. Let me know if that's good or bad.

The latency to Singapore is as good as it gets when using TATA's upstream from Kolkata, though it's not the best. With Jio and Airtel, you can achieve as low as 55ms to Singapore.

For EU servers, TATA's routing is odd.

I have an Oracle Cloud server in Marseille, France. Ideally, the route should be Mumbai -> Marseille, but TATA is routing through Chennai -> Singapore -> Marseille, increasing latency to 200ms. After filing a complaint, they optimized the route for my IP to go through Mumbai, though the latency is still around 170-180ms. With Jio, it's 150ms, and I've seen it as low as 130ms with SIFY.

TL;DR: TATA's routing from Kolkata is bad, and alliance makes it even worse.

Even TATA Play Fiber in Kolkata mostly uses Airtel as its upstream, except occasionally for US servers where it uses TATA.

Well, thank you for explaining all of that! I'm new to this, so I definitely learned a lot while researching what you said. Currently, I'm not facing any issues with my use cases. Is there anything I can do to improve my internet further? The LCO I have is good, and they're open to suggestions. I'm attaching some more screenshots.

Why is the speed so poor on Pilot Fiber servers? Is it better on Jio or Airtel? Also, should I stick with Cloudflare DNS like I'm using now, or switch to the ISP-provided DNS?

@hundredeye Alliance hijacks dns unless you are using DNS over HTTPS or DNS over TLS, check here: dnscheck.tools
I am on 140mbps plan, but I receive full speed on most international servers include Pilot Fiber's one like I mentioned, but it should not matter to most of us as most of what we consume are cached in Indian servers, but if you have any particular issue with slow downloads on any server raise a complaint, they will fix it.
