I can get the croma 1.5 ton ac for RS 29,000. Does anyone have any experience with Croma AC? I googled and found only one negative review in consumer complaints. Nothing else about it. the site is here:

Does Croma AC have a good compressor? Or would it be better to buy Sharp or Panasonic? Do they have superior compressors?
I’m attracted to Croma because it has a 4 way swing, which most split Acs don’t have. Is the 4 way swing a big advantage over the 2 way swing? Thanks for any help.

Do not know the OEM but i am sure you know these are not Voltas and Tata buys it from smaller manufacturers.
as far as 4 way swing is concerned.lot of LG ACs are offering that at 32-33K.29K seems to be a good price. But how many efficiency stars does it have?

Thanks for your answer.

No I did not know that. they told me at the showroom that Croma /Tata manufactures the machines themselves and they can afford to be chaper because others have to find dealers to house their products while Croma markets themselves.
I’m mainly interested in how good the compressor is. are you saying that because someone else manufactures the machine there is no guarantee of how good the compressor is?
In fact I leanrned just today that Voltas is manufactured by Tata. And I have been told Voltas too is not a good brand, not as reliable as others. So maybe I should not trust any Tata AC?

I was told LG too doesn’t make their own ACs and their Acs are inferior to brands like Panasonic and Sharp.
“But how many efficiency stars does it have?”
It’s 3 stars. I’m not interested in spending more to buy 5 star.

3 star seems decent.
I have LG AC as well as VOLTAS.Voltas is slow when it comes to cooling and they have their own series of infrared ports for remote making sure that you have to buy an original remote from them only.Plus point about Voltas is its silent.
LG is not as silent as Voltas but LG is awesome when it comes to quick cooling.
Voltas used to be a good player back in the days like videocon but now has fell behind.
And as far as Croma is concerned, they do not manufacture the stuff, they outsource it from smaller unknown players.I am not saying OEM are bad but my friend once had a tough time with a croma power bank and they gave him tough time to exchange. On the other hand he did buy some croma kitchen appliance too which turned out to be solid.

“Croma ACs are basically previous years' Voltas models which went unsold. So they are older in technology too.”
How can they do that? You mean they just paint over the voltas name and put croma in its place?
But as I said the croma I saw has a 4 way swing. The only voltas I saw with that are the more expensive models, like Rs 35 000. So I don’t think this model of croma I saw is just an old voltas?
so your voltas cools quickly?

Sorry; I posted the wrong url in my original question. I’m looking for a split Ac, not a window one.

My main question is, is it always safer to buy a name brand like Sharp? I’m mainly looking for something that has a good compressor since I want the Ac to last at least 10 to 15 years. My window Ac has lasted 18 years so far.

So for that I suppose I need to buy one with a fantastic compressor? And I take it that only the name brands like Sharp can be trusted to have great compressors? While something like Croma would have a weaker compressor?
Brands like Hitachi, Daikin etc are too expensive for me. Sharp seems the most reasonable in split Acs.
