so many random music videos from popular artists world renowned artists are being blocked, what in the absolute %#$%

almost 80% of music videos from kendrick , eminem, backstreet boys, kayne , jay-z, 50 cent and who even who what other artists are unplayable on my end


This is worrying
I had recently switched from jio fiber to airtel xteme and what a bummer, i thought censorship was a jio-only problem, but airtel is in some regards even worse

I'm not sure how they can block like this though. Airtel could only see SNI youtube.com , not the whole URL on an https site.

So, I think its very likely they are messing with peering/YouTube cache that they have.

Also, it is to be noted that the videos affected are very popular music videos which are usually cached by ISPs to save bandwidth unlike less popular videos which are pulled from Google.

Reddit blocks r/indiansgonewild in India because they got a legal request, not the ISPs. If this were Government who wanted to block these videos, they would send legal request to YouTube/Google to block specific videos.

i can play every single of them on my jio connection, its the damn airtel that's giving me a connection error.


Also , i just spoke to their representative after DMing their customer support on twitter and even told me that he is able to access and play all those linked videos, but then WHY I AM NOT!!


i am at my wits end, this doesnt make sense
 
As I said before, ISPs have their own YouTube cache to save bandwidth costs. Airtel likely has this cache misconfigured at some locations which causes certain popular cached videos to not load.

Also, the cache is different at different locations.

Jio has their own cache which is why they aren't affected.
