Hello Guys i just thought i would like to have some opinions and discussion on this topic since we have the cheapest mobile tariffs in the world, and customers are questioning operators about the slow speeds.
So, According to me i would like to to thank Jio for bringing low and cheap prices and 4G coverage to the country helping lots of people get online. now the part which i am disappointed for is that due to the forced low tariffs which was caused by the entry of Jio, i thought affected our quality of our networks most affected was Airtel, VIL, they lost lots of revenue and customers, due to that Jio is the operator with the most subscribers and still adding but the condition of Jio is becoming worse because of the poor performance, now after all these years our 3G networks no one really experienced speed drops drastically like this since there were less users. i think we deserve better quality networks do we? so whom to blame? i would like have your opinion guys

I was using MTS for voice. Paid similar monthly charges as I am paying for Jio. I have good WiFi at office as well as home. So I do not need data.
VoWiFi... I would not credit Jio for that.

So no additional benefit for me from Jio's entry... on the contrary they have taken away the options we had.

Actually i would totally agree with what you said @amalrakoff .
It came with advantages as well as disadvantages.
Major advantage was it made wireless internet affordable for indian people but on the other hand it gave a major disadvantage of ultra slow speed.Infact a downgrade over the average 3G speeds.

Yes jio has revolutionized the internet and all, but what I don't understand is that, why are the operators not keen to invest further in spectrum, and in new bts. They can blame this for low tariffs and all comparing to other countries, but with respect to other countries India has the largest populations and most of them are using internet, above 50 percent or something , so they will be getting the same revenue as they would be getting from increased tariffs on smaller population right..

For me, I would say, yes they helped most of our fellow countrymen join the bandwagon of internet through affordable net. But like any decision which has its positives there are negatives too.
1. For me most importantly I felt robbed of the choice of operators that existed before Jio.

2. No matter how much spectrum you purchase, it will always be scarce. We are simply too big of a population to even think we can have good net speeds.

3. Competing priorities.... Govt is hell bent on AGR while companies cannot afford to pay them.

So what can be done.

1. Invest more in wifi on the lines similar to Bharat fiber which can handle more users and relatively better speeds than those cell towers. They can go for towers in rural areas where mobile population base is less than cities.

2. Invest more on wired connection. Remove those regulatory crap and let there be fair competition.

3. This is important.. Ensure fair play for all players and make sectors competitive. Allow more operators and let customers decide which plan, operators are best for them. Today, it is the company which decides what is good for you, which plan etc.

4. Have a penal provision for data speeds similar to what existed for call drops. Just like Jio says speeds on fiber upto 80% is acceptable, a similar arrangement for mobile data should be made. I know, this goes against the companies own policy of having max customers but if you don't get the service what you paid for, then simply return that amount.

5. Last, but not least. A regulator who has the spine to stand up against anti-competitive pricing and takes penal action in a time bound manner.

I think its technically achievable with a big population ignoring the other aspects

@shashankb Yes its possible with more bts and more spectrum but as @Tejas01 said its not enough for big metropolitans , hence Wi-Fi and ftth proliferation should be increased massively in metropolitan cities and i think it will happen with new jio fiber tarrifs and all

Still VoWifi needs to be improved a lot before it can be put into primary use. It has a ton of issues like no SMS , poor Call quality , Compatibility issues with mobile , ISP compatibility . This technology is coming into action in 2019 whereas other countries had 4-5 years ago
