I'm currently on the lookout for a wired router that's futureproofed enough for 2 Gbps dual WAN (Symmetrical) along with powerful CPU, high RAM and built-in storage + decent amount of ports. But comes in a small package and reasonable cost.
I'm currently thinking of this particular router after some research and comparisons: Ubiquiti - EdgeRouter™ 12
Comparisons of similar routers from the same company: Ubiquiti - Simplifying IT
My planned home network setup would be something like this:
Fibre Cable>
ONT in bridged mode (or maybe I'll just use a media converter later)>
EdgeRouter (handles WAN and local DHCP)>
Mesh WiFi Solution in simple access point functionality
Everything will be connected with Cat7 LAN backhaul.
I initially thought of gaming routers running Qualcomm chips, but they seem gimmicky and couldn't find a solid one supporting 1Gig+ load balancing aggregation.
Does anyone have a better idea or suggestions?
