2x65Ah will not even give you 7 hours at 300W in theory..

Max will be 5 hours (again in theory)
The UPS showing 4 hours is probably correct

----------

btw, at 23k I got a sukam inverter(Home UPS as they call it) with 2 big batteries
It will give 10+ hours at 300W load :)

yup for big backup time better off buying home UPS inverter....I had power cuts problem here but I ended up buying a laptop instead as I did not want the inverter to take all the space :P

i already have three inverters in my place. and at least the one connected to my basement used to work as a UPS. but sadly, it now trips on fluctuations and that is why i had to go for this solution. :P

i actually was using a laptop when i was here previously. i switched to desktop at the rented place i was at for the last 1.5 years. and now that i am back, the problem has started. and i do not want to switch back to a laptop. :(

yeah. made a mistake of going with APC. should have gone for an indian company instead. :(

monday is the new deadline. the engineer was surprised that my problem has lasted for so many days. he said that i should have been mmm rude to the folks in his office to get the work done faster. he said that he would himself keep an eye on the replacement unit delivery. he also suggested that i should complain to APC directly in case it does not work with the replacement unit. and ask for complete refund. :|if the replacement units work, i guess i would keep it. if it does not, i would ask for refund. would go for a local solution if that works out. looks unlikely though.

Monday today. No replacement. I am again being told about a replacement being on its way from their warehouse in Bangalore or whatever.

Bitch mode is on. They are now asking me to wait till tomorrow. I have sent a complaint to the email addresses on APC India website (does not look like it is going to help though).

Would probably consult my lawyer friend about consumer courts... What options do I have.

----------

talked to APC live chat guy. he said that a request is with them filed on Aug 25 (idiots put in the request so late!).

and a replacement should be at my place by tomorrow.

talked to lawyer friend... said that without documented evidence that i asked for a specific solution which was not later delivered, it would not work.

looks like a refund is very unlikely.

Finally. The replacement unit arrived today and it seems to be working fine. Found out that my basement has major problem with earthing. Let's hope it is easy to fix. I would have to buy a stablizer too :( The power supply is so bad that the UPS keeps on running on battery because of low voltage on mains. And running it on inverter supply (which has a larger stablizer connected to it already) seems to messing it up.

even in Delhi the voltage is messed usually in the night .....tubes dnt work .....keep flickering...nd probly becz of this my bathroom tube went dead .....now its pretty dark if I wanna take a piss in the night :Pbtw nice to see u got ur replacement nd its working :) .....I am also waiting for a replacement too but its fr a watch which arrived broke bought it frm Indiatimes shopping.. :(

heh. power supplies have been shitty for years here in gurgaon.

before we had inverters, we had 5KW stablizers.

and we still have to use them because without them the inverters just does not charge in time.

and since i would be using the APC UPS on mains, i would have to get an independent stablizer for it. :| just like for ACs.

crappy life.

----------

i bet, buying a laptop would have turned out to be a cheaper deal :(

all this equipment will surely take sm space too.....and more wires... ( I hate wires ..)I thought UPS did not need any stabilizer as their job is to do that .....dnt know if a stabilizer will solve this problem...

UPS does not need stablizer for its own functioning. But it needs quality supply to keep the batteries charged right? if the voltage is low, the UPS would continue to run on battery mode and charging would be much slower.
