It is good news for Dishtv. now say how many movie channel customer need? Bindaas movie, Utv movies, Zee cinema, star gold, Setmax, filmy and each and every genarel entertainment channel are showing movie also. (9x, colours,Sony, Starplus,saharaone..etc) In future many channels are waiting to lauch. that time what we will do? every channel will be pay channel and we will pay for useless proggrame. I think every new day is for a new channel. restriction needed..

Dish TV adding subs in droves

India’s Dish TV DTH platform could make 5 million subscribers by the end of the year, with 4.4 million signed up to date and the platform adding over 400,000 a month.

The Zee TV-backed platform informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that it had added 431,253 subs during October, cementing its market leading position. Dish TV is claiming 53% of the market, which numbers around 8 million subscribers at present.

The impressive additions during October was only 100,000 less than the platform signed up during the whole of the September-ended quarter, when Dish TV added 529,000 subs over the three months.

Even more notable is that Dish TV signed up such a high number of new subscribers despite the well-publicised launch of Reliance’s Big TV platform in September. That claimed to have pulled in 500,000 subscribers in its first 50 days of commercial operation and is targeting 5 million within a year of operation.

Dish TV’s closest rival is Tata Sky, which has over 2.7 million subscribers, with southern-focused Sun Direct on 1.7 million. Airtel Digital TV, which launched in early October, has yet to report subscriber figures.
