Another Tool/Gadget to finger my D.I.Y. Itch,

Will be Using it to monitor RO Water and would skip the service contracts, cause spares are easily available now a days
and for those who know how it works, can easily save a couple of thousand a year.
Basic operation is, You can check TDS level twice a month, The least the reading is, purer the water is.
my current reading is 21 after 1 year of usage. I am not spending 4.5k on contract this time.
New Filters and membrane installed would give readings, near 0(Zero) while normal home usage of 1 yr. should not be more
than 15-25. and if you change the sediment filter in 6 months, your membrane would last twice its normal life of 1 yr as suggested by companies, but all that counts is the TDS Count, So watch and act.
new filter set would be around Rs.900 ( 3 filters)
One Decent Filter membrane would be Rs.1200-1400
and companies charge 4K + for annual AMC so what they would cover extra is PUMP, and that's only Rs.1000 tops, so all in all even in worst case scenario (Blown Pump) you can save Rs.1000 and if pump doesn't needs to be replaced you save Rs.2000+ a year.
other parts are considered as consumables and would be charged by AMC providers so its out of equation for D.I.Y. cost.

Last pic from phone cam before it went down for 2 days :-)
Bought Pocket Digital TDS Meter from this seller delivered a day earlier than ebay estimated time.
Paid Rs.550/- after ebay discount coupon.

Sure! Waiting for TDS meter to arrive before I get down to it. It has been sent via speed post and their tracking does not work.

Good video, and I like that TDS meter.

So this is how I plan, my present system is:
Spun filter > sediment filter > Carbon filter > Membrane > Carbon filter > tank

New config:
Spun filter > sediment filter > Carbon filter > Membrane > mineral filter > tank

So planning to replace the last carbon filter with a mineral filter like this one:

Mineral Cartridge BIO AA Antioxidant Alkaline Antibacterial Filter | eBay

My whirlpool ro guy said to me that post carbon filter which comes after ro membrane used to add necessary minerals even before, only now it's name has been changed

Is it true?

And did you get the tds meter? I still didn't receive mine and I asked for a refund......... Damn India speed post

with Indian Post, I am sure online shopping sites are going to badly hit.

on the other hand.
wifes's in post man colony are celebrating twice this diwali and saying,
"Ab to hamare ghar bhi latest Item aayenge, arre honge kyon nahin saare shopping packets inke haath se hi aage jaate hain"
"kal hi Paani Test karne ki machine mili hai, ab DVD player bhi aa raha hai":party:

I received the meter, it was delayed.

Post carbon filter removes smell and add taste to the water, it hardly has any necessary minerals.

Here is my water readings:

621ppm(raw)-181ppm(RO) = 440ppm = 70.8%

dafuq if it is for remote places where there is no courier service then ok else it doesn't make sense to use indian post where courier companies are available

Either your meter is wrong showing value

Or get a technician immidiately, after ro membrane tds must come down below 70 ppm, or atleast 100 ppm is least desirable reading. Your reading is way way high, it's not even close

When my raw water tds was 600 plus my old ro used to bring tds to 50 ppm

Even whirlpool is giving 60 ppm while raw water is 500 ppm
