So overall, what are the best DNS to use?

And to what extent can affect our internet speed?

Use treewalkif it works for you , i tried it but my net stopped working probably because of static ip and mac id binding but since u r on MTNL it should work else use 203.94.243.70 and 202.56.250.5

BTW
i got vsnl's dns also they are :
202.54.1.18
202.54.1.32

both seem to be fast and stable

opendns is yet to localize their servers in india/south asian market. probably it would get better for us once they set up their mirror servers in singapore or so. currently. it's going to perform badly. but the fact remains... dns resolve process takes like milliseconds :P

yes DNS resolutions just take miliseconds..so u wud hardly save a minute in a day by using closer DNS.

I wasnt having issues with speed.some sites would not just open.and it till happens in between.Changed primary to MTNL one but still no difference.Everything working fine now, but its temporary as has been happening for the last two days.

It happens with me too.Sometimes....specially when i turn on my router, for some time.....i can only open sites like MTNL's sites, google, etc. After a while it becomes ok.

yes sometimes when i start comp..and connect to mtnl..(or disconnect and reconnect)... sites dont open for abt 1 or 2mins. google doesnt ping ..or opendns doesnt work..but after a min.. it works charm.this doesnt happen all time..but just sometimes.
