I tested the speed over 5G. It comes to 1gbps almost all the time. Of course, it will come down with time, more users and other factors. However, with 4G (from the same Jio tower located around 50m from my home), I get only less than 20mbps most of the time even with 3CA (or 2CA). Before 5G, I think I used to get over 30mbps easily on 4G. Does anyone else noticed this? Does Jio want to force more users into 5G by restricting bandwidth for 4G? Or is it just me?

Edit: I couldn’t run similar tests with Airtel for two reasons. My current plan (1799] isn’t eligible for free 5g trial and the nearest Artel tower (located around 100m away) isn’t 5g enabled. I have to go at least 5km to reach a 5g enabled tower where things could be different.

Could be true if more people onboard in 4G than in 5G in a particular area. We have to consider people switching from 4G to 5G too. The reverse is unlikely to happen until Jio (or Airtel) starts charging a premium for 5G.

I don't think so cuz after 5G I'm seeing better speeds on 4G cuz they uncapped everything and network doing max performance.

Those were crazy speeds for 4G in India.

I thought Jio started doing what VI and Airtel did with prepaid / postpaid plans. I am unsure if they still provide extra bandwidth for postpaid mobile customers.
