hello, few days back I got installed Tata play fiber with a basic plan of 100mbps for 6months.
So do they offer Static ip in this plan. Or how much does it cost for it ? I have heard in some forums that they do offer IPv6 as free in the plan. Does it support port forwarding ? Please guide me as I am noob at this point.

@87056 does the Static IPv6 support port forwarding. Like does it support me connect large peers in torrenting ? To get good upload speeds. Or should I go for the paid one.

The static part is the first 4 Octets. The last 4 Octets (the temp IPv6 so that you dont get shadowed and remain untraceable on the internet) are randomly generated by your device based on the MAC address etc.

If most of your traffic is via IPv4 then take a v4 static IP. If a P2P is important to you take the v4. Many countries are still in the process of implementation and the remote node may not be able to transfer/seed through IPv6.

PS - I would recommend using a P2P friendly VPN. They normally dont work with IPv6

@87056 @Mota Bhai hey so basically yesterday night I had opened a ticket requesting for it and they said it’s 236rs/m. And I agreed for it. They said it takes 24hrs to get activated.

I have one doubt does this static ip provided by them allow port forwarding ? Because my main intention for getting this was for port forwarding.

It should be allowed I believe. You can confirm with them once, TPF customer care is pretty responsive.

I had asked them through ticket in the fiber app. They said they won’t allow port forwarding.

So their anyway to get it unlocked? Or else it’s waste of money for me now. As I already paid.

Email to the customer care. They will cancel the static IP and adjust the amount in next recharge I believe. Mention that port forwarding is not allowed hence it defeats the purpose for your use case.

I don’t think there will be refund. Is their any possible way that i can unlock it through logging in to router. Like any settings which makes it get opened ?
