Does Vi store in Kolkata force you to get a postpaid sim instead of a prepaid sim card?

i have faced this multiple times in Andheri West Four Bungalows store in Mumbai
where if i go for prepaid port in ,the employee would say prepaid Sims are out of stock, and you need to buy a postpaid sim with 3 month lock in period and bs

As of Today 18th of May 2025 Vi has rolled out Non Stop Hero Plans in Kolkata Circle

I'm thinking to ask someone to get a new prepaid sim from Kolkata circle for me
so I can use it in Mumbai Circle while having Unlimited 4G data

if anyone has any experience from Vi store in Kolkata please let me know how it went for you

Strictly speaking, physically, a SIM card alone cannot be set in such a way that its prepaid or postpaid only. For new connection they try to upsell postpaid connection but if you insist, they will give a prepaid connection. Only in case of porting, they port to vi postpaid only. Experience based on Park Street Vi Store

i just need a new prepaid sim so i guess it should be fine

Also can you recharge any plan when buying a new prepaid sim or do you have to select from the ones they are mentioning for ex 365 ,649 Rs plans

I want to directly buy the new 398 plan , which offers unlimited data in 4G

Actual experience : The Store employee did say that you will be getting a recyled old sim for new prepaid sim ,and that recycled may be from someone who took loans and shit .Before getting that number i did check on truecaller and it showed no name ,so its possibly a fresh sim

they were asking to get postpaid since its better etc etc but they didnt force the way my andheri west mumbai store does

also i have a Aadhaar address from Mumbai ,hence they were asking proof of residency while getting the new sim i guess

had to pull a few strings here and there to get local Proof of address but yeah finally i do have a kolkata circle sim which i will be using in Mumbai with the non stop hero plan uwu
