DoT wants a minimum quality of service and network resilience requirements for CDNs under a light-touch framework, but TRAI disagrees

In disagreement with TRAI’s recommendation to exempt CDNs from authorisation, the DoT wants to bring quality of service and network resilience requirements for these players. However, in doing so, the DoT appears to be missing the entire point of CDNs.

Airtel also mentioned that the regulator could recommend that the government ask CDNs to block content at the source, instead of directing telcos to do so.
