Not really getting you. Amex has no system like vbv is what I meant.

Yeah correct, works with amex that way. The billing address should match with the one in record.

I don't know why but Apple sometimes charge you for an app some time later. I used a netsecure card to buy Whatsapp. It installed but they didn't charge me. I got an email regarding unsuccessful payment a day later when the netsecure card had expired. 3 days later when i was updating the app they asked me to pay again as the last payment wasn't successful. Was your friend charged when he bought the app ?

This.

This is a big loophole is their payment system, they don't charge you at the time of purchasing the app untill $40, it takes around 2 working days for the transaction to process.

@experience, are you talking about credit cards above? If so, actual amount is always "later", as part of settlement processing. Later can be same day or much longer, even a week.

Right. But, with Amex, the address that you enter has to be very accurate. Irritating it is at times ;)

Well, I have found that to be pretty iffy. I have used fake addresses both in India and abroad, and it seems to work most of the times. Very few sites actually seem to pay heed to the authentication message that Amex might be returning.

Any card in general, take HDFC netsafe VCC in general. so if you generate a Re. 1 VCC and use it on appstore they won't charge you unless you make a purchase exceeding $40.

So even if I use a credit card for $1000, the settlement or charges do not happen at the same instant, it is always at a later instance as a consolidation

Flipkart/eBay/Jabong/Paytm
No idea about others, but these sites refuse to accept any address than what is in Amex's records.

Edit
Just remembered jabong doesn't accept am ex iirc :P
