I have a Asus RT N13U. This router has a USB port & has a service built in to download via torrents to an attached pendrive or hard disk.
I have not got around to trying this. Mostly use my laptop to download torrents.
Anyone out there using this service on a router to download directly to an attached storage device ? How convenient is this ?
Would changing the firmware of the router to open source firmwares like DD-WRT or Tomato help in any better way ?

If your router provides it out of the box, you need not go DD-WRT or Tomato. However that said, I am on DD-WRT on my 3 home routers. I however use a NAS for the downloads. Never tried it on the router, though it has the USB port. I did try it on my WD Media Player though on which I downloaded torrents direct to USB or HDD before I got my NAS. This was done with custom firmware similar to the DD-WRT of a router.

Custom firmware ? This is running on the WD Media player ?

Yes this is on my WD TV (wired). I did this about 18 months back, so have to dig up the information if you want it.

rsatbfif you have DD WRT and USB port on the router have you tries steaming the radio from it directly ??
I have not tried streaming from DD WRT as my amp has a built in internet radio. Even the WD Media player has the radio app on it. So never felt the need.
