the current version of the draft would pretty much break the internet. if voip calls are not excluded, you would be required to make text transcripts of all calls and keep them for 90 days. there are just too many things that they would need to exclude to not break the internet in india.
that's the thing. i am not even sure why they ask for feedback. is this a constitutional requirement?
they are already working on a replacement for section 66(a). this is just part of it. encryption allows for free exchange of ideas. scary though for the government.
So why do it in the first place? Why not implement all the draconian policies straight away just like Section 66(A)? Govt will have ample time (till someone files a PIL in SC and get it revoked) to do some spying and get innocent people behind bars.
