This is freaking nuts.

And I keep forgetting, does Google OneDrive sharing means 1TB in total for all family members or each member getting 1TB?

The same thing isn't clear here as well.

google onedrive storage is shared between members. it's not like microsoft 365 that we use. each storage remains separate. one user cannot see another's storage. but total data should remain under paid for storage.

Google one drive family members each individually have their own 15 GB free storage. The paid storage is shared and used by a member only when his own free storage is exhausted. However for the lead member, the free storage of 15 GB is part of the paid storage. If anyone is having any promo storage, like they gave away 2 GB + 2 GB some years back for performing some security tasks, that is over and above this and applicable to that individual account only.
eg. if you are the paid member for 100 GB, then your total storage incl free storage is limited to 100 GB, out of which, 85 GB can be shared among family members. Your family members use their own free 15 GB first, and only if that is used up, then take a slice off your shared 85 GB storage. But the access to the files remain to the individual owners only, unless access is shared.
There is presently no 1 TB plan for India. Its only 100 GB - 1300/yr, 200 GB - 2100/yr and 2 TB - 6500/yr. It can be shared between 1 lead and 5 addl family members. 6500 INR translates to about 87 USD. So definitely cheaper than Dropbox.

the 1TB plan was removed globally when they revamped the prices iirc. microsoft 365 family pack is probably the best deal if you want 1TB cloud storage.
