How do you access britannica being a airtel subscriber ?

I'm not interested in the kid thing but the real thing as wikipedia is crap.

i think airtel broadband subscribers get one year free access. Airtel Gateway

it is a trap. you forget to cancel the subscription, they add the charges to you bill. something like that.

Righto. It saying "Price : Rs. 0/- for 670 days" - whatever that means. I will try this some other time.

Good, let us know how things go.

wikipedia is crap..come on dude
Depends on what you want. If its theory you can get away with wiki, but the coverage is spotty in many areas. History & politics is one. Basic theory is fine, but interpretations of different events or conflicts are subject to bias and are not always that good.

If you ask me, wiki is just a starting point, the sources referenced therein, the next step and more specialised references to follow after. In terms of quality britannica will trounce wiki anyday, how else can they survive and still charge for access as they do when there is supposedly a free equivalent out already for some time now.

The market has spoken in this regard :)

right..sometimes when you see a wiki article you would like hit you head against the wall..even on easy topics wikis have huge articles written with all sorts of details given...this can be painful to beginners , specially if person is just looking for brief view of the topic...the thing which I disklike the most about wiki is that even on the topics which requires practical approach they insert pure science and mathematics in them. This make understanding of simple topics too tuff..I have experienced it personally.. I Think lots of researchers compile wiki articles as you get a smell of scientist and researchers(with big PHD degree) after you read any wiki article..But I have no complaints from wiki...it is still the first (and in most cases it is the last :) ) source to look for information

from what i heard britannica is struggling big time. printed editions are likely to be discontinued in the near future. and few people are paying for online access. i got access to their paid version when they launched some offer for bloggers 2 years ago. i tried checking what was so cool about it. i guess it's good. but for me wikipedia delivers what i want to know about anything. but then i am not doing a PhD or writing a technical paper. my searches are on rather simple subjects. :)
