Not too long into the future, e-sim might become more flexible. For example devices logged into the same Apple ID could all use the esim profile, which would be stored in iCloud and not a single physical device. In fact this feature is in the works in some countries and telecom operators. Then losing a device or crashing a device wouldn’t necessitate going to the telecom store to get a new esim issued. Just pick up a spare phone, log into your Apple ID, and you are set.

I hope that happens soon. Esim currently are quite annoying to use unless you are in a T1/T2 city.

Am currently using Jio eSIM. I think the feature is great, depends on your usage patterns. It is my primary number so it always stays in my primary phone. Have not faced any issues with network drops or anything. But if your use is to swap phones often or travelling internationally often, you might want to keep your physical SIM.

My physical sim has gone corrupt while in the phone itself. It simply says no service. Have to get it replaced visiting an Airtel store and it will remain non-functional for the next 24 hours. 🫠

Happened with me last year, was much more painful since I had to send my mom to get it, then give a letter of authorization etc

This issue seems quite common with Airtel sims. Happened with me for the first time.
