EVDO in Vista - "The remote System is not responding in a timely fashion"

I'm using Vista(Home premium) in my HP dv6701Au and I installed the drivers. provided by BSNL, I have even tried to install a driver from this site, claimed to be working on all windows including vista.

I am getting EVDO signal (2- 3 bars)
I input my User name and password and dial to the default number there (#777)
it displays a message that a device is going to get connected. but after some time(a couple of minutes later) it says the "The remote system is not responding in a timely fashion".
I even tried to create a dialer manually and tried to connect.. no go(same error)..

Any one facing this issue? It's been a week since i took the connection and not able to connect. I'm able to connect the same in XP.
(the connection was intermittent and no download or upload activity found in between!).

I've done the troubleshooting steps that got with the modem installation. In that my lappie , device and ISp got passed and the internet connection take ages to complete and throws an error "Unknown error, not able to connect"

Sorry to know that your Vista is giving you trouble, but I am postponing my decision to go for EVDO, coz I have HP laptop + Vista. The easiest way is to take your laptop with EVDO card and go to the BSNL office. Ask them to help you get connected. if you know someone over there, it will be easy.

@ itsme> Dear, I think its a location specific issue.. juz consul the nearest BSNL office( In alappuzha, kerala, there is no internet with CDMA 1X as well.. , which was getting earlier. )And yeah! I've been to bsnl with the lappiee.. NOGO my dear.. NOGO... (I lost a days leave.. that is all what happened.!)

Thanks for the reply dear.. I rectified the issue.. juz a download of the driver for Vista made it all right....

And speed that i get max is 1.4 and the consistent speed of around .6 Mbps .
