BSNL today launched evdo service in kolkata though only in Rajathat and NewTown area.
It also launched internet through data card using cdma 2000 1X in kolkata.

"Launching of DATA Cards
Two types of DATA cards ( USB type & PCMCIA ) along with the EVDO card for new exchange on CDMA 2000 IX technology in operation where the DATA service on CDMA 2000 IX is available by using BSNL NIC is going to lunch.
The Promotional plan may be summed up as follow
1. For DATA Card USB type : NET CRAZY ( HIGH SPEED MOBILE INTERNET )
A) Customer with landline ( landline must not be PA or PF or any other without Security deposit)
(i) Customer with landline may purchase DATA card @ Rs 2800/- will have to pay
a) Monthly fixed charge for DATA card - NIL
b) Monthly fixed charge for internet (unlimited usage) - Rs.200/-.
ii) Customer with landline not interested to purchase DATA card @ Rs 2800/- will have
to pay
a) Application money of Rs.1000/- to be adjusted against S.D of Rs.1000/-
b) Monthly fixed charge for DATA card - Rs 100/-.
c) Monthly fixed charge for internet (Unlimited usage) – Rs. 200/-
B) Customer without landline :
Customer without landline has to purchase DATA card @ Rs 2800/- will have to pay
a) Monthly fixed charge for DATA card - NIL
b) Monthly fixed charge for internet (unlimited usage) - Rs.200/-.
C) If DATA card is in bulk use (more than 50 nos)
( For Corporates / Hospitals / Educational Institution / Other organizations etc.)
a) Monthly fixed charge for DATA card - Rs.100/-
b) Monthly fixed charge for internet (Unlimited usage) – Rs.150/-
2. For PCM CIA DATA cards :
This card will be sold at the cost of Rs.1000/- instead of Rs.2800/-preferably to Students and it can also be sold to general customers. It will not be on monthly rent basis. Other charges will be as per A(i) above.
As the stock of the said card is limited, it will be given on first cum first service basis.
In all the above cases mentioned in (1) & (2) there will be
· No registration charge
· No activation charge
The following plans may be considered for the aspirant in RAJARHAT & New Town area or Non feasible pockets where Landline connections could not be extended.
C) For Voice call only ( IFWT with low end data port) – Only Prepaid for the time being
A Demand note of Rs.1675/-* is to be issued to the Customer on payment of which the set (set without Data) with activation will be issued to the Customer. Customer will get a talk time of Rs.900/- with validity of 90 days. Thereafter he has to recharge with recharge voucher. Top up may be used for increase of Talk time. The back up of Rs.1675/-* is as follow

The registration charge will be Rs. 500/- & S.D will be Rs. 2000/-
b) For internet access charges, unlimited download plan may be introduced. The
monthly internet access charges will be Rs.200/- in place of Rs.250/- as
Promotional plan (BSNL CO Circular no 115-11/2005-Comml dt 26.10.2007
(Endorsed Vide no CNQ-2000/P-IX/TARIFF/2008/67 dt 29.10.2008) and
BSNL CO Circular no 42 vide no 3-23/2007- R&C dt 29.09.2008 .( Endorsed
Vide no CNQ-2000/P-IX/TARIFF/2008/75 dt 29.10.2008) in addition to the
plan charges of the connection mentioned at (a) above.

E) For Broadband connection (EVDO Card) NETCRAZY– B (Wireless
Broadband) - only for Rajathat and NewTown area
a) Additional charge for providing the EVDO (unlimited) Data card
(i) Monthly fixed charge for DATA card – Rs.200/-
(ii) Monthly fixed charge for internet ( unlimited download) – Rs.550/-
b) For EVDO data card there will be
(i) Application money of Rs.1000/- is to be paid along with application which will be adjusted in 1st bill as Security deposit (refundable), if data card is not purchased
(ii) No activation charge
(iii) No Security deposit and no Application money /Registration charge in case Data card (for EVDO) is purchase at Rs.3500/-
This Scheme is a Promotional one and valid from 03.11.2008 to 31.01.2009"
